Last week, our summer interns finished up their work here at Clutch Mobile.
In their own words…
This summer our focus has been on data security and highly granular app control. We analyzed the network protocols of hundreds of apps to find ways that sensitive data might be sent to third parties accidentally.
Based on this analysis, we created ways that users could have very specific control of apps, such as limiting certain activities within apps that could compromise information, use excessive company bandwidth or inadvertently hurt the company’s image.
In a way, this problem is somewhat unique to the mobile security field. With an increasing number of services in the cloud, it’s important for data to move fluidly between devices and servers, often over untrusted networks. Without this, even simple operations become impractical, which is why it’s necessary to have fine-grained control over network resources.
